"Allah! There is no god but He,- the Living, the Self-subsisting, Supporter of all..." (Q2:255)
Tawheed Uboodiyya (the Unity of Worship) entails the acceptance to worship none but Allah as the only being worthy of worship. The Lord of the worlds possesses all the necessary Conditions of an ideal subject of human worship. He is the creator of the Heavens and the Earth. The existence and survival of every atom in the universe depend upon the sustenance He alone provides and He alone created them:
"O men! Remember the grace of Allah unto you! Is there any other creator, other than Allah, to give you sustenance from heaven or earthl". There is no god but He: how then are you perverted?" (Q35:3).
It is He who preserves the heavens from falling and the earth from collapsing. If He were to close His eyes for a moment, the universe will perish but
"..no slumber can seize Him nor sleep ... " (Q2:255).
If Allah indeed is the one who owns all creatures and He alone is aware of the slightest motion that takes place anywhere in creation.
"...He knows whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered) but is {inscribed} in a Record Clear (to those who can read)" (Q6:59)
then He should know what is best for man. Why will man not worship Allah alone when all noble qualities are complete in Him:
"He is the First and the East, the Evident and the Hidden: and He has full knowledge of All things" (Q57:3).
Thus, it is Allah that should determine the path leading to happiness and unstinted bliss and lay down a system of human realations that conforms with the norms He has established in the universe. The natural path to happiness and eternal bliss is the correct worship of Allah according to His rules
"O you who believe! Bow down, prostrate yourselves, and adore your Lord; and do good that you may prosper" (Q22:77)
To hearken sincerely to the call of Allah, to submit to His Will is the path of Islam. To move ·towards Allah and seek His countenance is to achieve all conceivable desire at the highest degree. Whoever gives his heart to Allah gains an affectionate companion and a loving friend. That is why Rasulullah counselled "if you ask, ask Allah alone, if you seek help, seek the help of Allah alone" (Trimidhi) Whoever relies on Him has placed his hope on a sound, firm foundation. Worship is about adoring Allah, loving Allah and holding Allah in high esteem. If any other being or thing equally enjoys our devotion, obedience, love and respect as Allah then we would be guilty of associating partners with Him and
"Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgives anything else to whom He pleases; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin most heinous Med. " (Q4:48)
