Abdullah: Also you must make sure that the sujud is done on seven bones.
Zainab: Seven bones?
Abdullah: Yes, the two hands, the two knees, the two feet and the tip of the nose along with the forehead make up the seven bones that must touch the ground during prostration. These seven bones and other parts of our body will testify for us on the Day of Judgement.
Abdullah showed Zainab how to make the sujud, he went down on his hands like he had described, and made sure the seven bones were touching the ground. During the sujud he made another dua: Subhaana Rabbiyal A'la (Glorified be my Lord the Most High).
He said this three times in a low voice as Zainab was looking with the utmost interest. Then, Abdullah rose from the sujud and sat for a few minutes, saying: Rabbighfir lee (O My Lord, forgive me), three times too. He then went down for another sujud and then came up for another sitting.
At this point, he paused and looked at Zainab and said; "For every rakaah, two sujud is to be made and only one ruku. When two units have been performed, you should sit down and perform the tashaahud.
This is a form of prayer and it includes bearing witness to. the oneness of Allaah the Most High. This is done twice when observing a salaah of three rakaats like maghrib and four rakaats like the Zutu; Asr and Ishaa and only once in a salaah of two rakaats like the early morning prayer called Subh.
The Dua of the tashaahud is: Attahiyyatu Iillahi was-salawaatu, wattayyibaatu, as-salaamu alaan- Nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu, as-salaamu alaina wa alaa ibaadillahis saaliheen. Ashhadu an laa ilaaha iIIallahu wa ashanna Muhammadan abduhu. Wa Rasooluhu. (All greetings of humility are for Allaah, and all prayers and goodness. Peace be upon you, oh Prophet, and the mercy of Allaah and His blessings, Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allaah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger)
Zainab: So thats why you sat for sometime while you were observing the salaah earlier?
Abdullah: Yes. Also, you can make other recommended duaas after the compulsory one. After the Tashaahud, you pronounce the Tasleem that Signifies the end of the salaah. This is because the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessing be upon him) said: "The key to prayer is purification; its beginning is takbeer and its end is tasleem." (Abu Dawood)
Zainab: Hold on! What is the meaning of Tasleem? Abdullah: Tasleem is the saying of "As-Salaam alaykum warahmatullah" at the end of the prayer. It is also called the salamah. It is pronounced first to your right side, then to the left. This brings the salaah to an end after which you should remain seated and engage in doing dhikr and say more prayers to Allaah.
