Muttafaq‘Alaih: (Agreed upon) A hadeeth accepted by both Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim and included in their respective Saheeh collections. This is the commonest meaning of this term.

Mutawaatir: (Concurrent) A hadeeth reported by a large number of people in different times (at different stages of its chain), so as to make it impossible for any falsehood to creep into it.

Matn: That which the chain of narration ends at(the text of the hadeeth)

Mawqoof; "Suspended" Attributed to the Companionsi.e. the chain of the hadith ends at the Companion who narrated it.

Mudallis: One who hides a defect in the Isnaad (chain) and making it appear to be sound.

Marfoo: Raised: The chain stops at a Companion but raised to the level of what the Prophet (peace be upon him) said because the companion could not have known the information except that he was informed by the Prophet (sallaallaahu alayhi wasallam)

The Prophet (sallaallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said,

“you see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it.” (bukhari)

The heart of the matter

It is eyen more so when the ailing part of the body is the heart. Miss Mulikat Subair is a final year Accountancy student of the Ogun State University. Mr. Sonaiya Olalekan Muktar is a 29year old graduate. Both are currently suffering from heart disease and a surgical operation is required to save their lives.

Shot Parting

Allaah says:

“say: in the bounty of Allaah and in His mercy in that let them rejoice”: that is better than the (wealth) they herd.” (Q10 [Yunus]: 58)

Self-contentment

Rasul said (sallaallaahu alayhi wa sallam):

"Riches does not mean having a great amount of property but riches is self-contentment."(Bukhari)

Salaaf said (pious predecessors)

"Perform well those (things) that have been made compulsory for you, you will then be amongst the distinguished devotees. Refrain from those (things) that have been prohibited. you will then be amongst the distinguished pious men. Be content with those things that are allotted to you by Allaah, you will then be amongst the richest," Ibn Mas'ood (RA)
