STRING AND BEADS

Events, when they happen, drop like beads; they spin away and could be lost easily. Sometimes, someone is required to string the beads together, then their true shape will be recognised. Three such beads dropped in this passing year; permit me to string them together so that you may recognise the choker: a strangling necklace that need be broken, indeed that must be broken, or it may choke the Muslim ummah.

MARCH 1997: The Deeper Life Leadership Strategy Congress met at Ayobo, Lagos to deliberate on "How to evangelise the Muslims". The strategy to achieve this errant objective is instructive: "No man can enter into a strongman's house and spoil his goods except he will first bind the strong man and then he will spoil his

house" (Mark 3:27). Same strategy that armed robbers use! To spoil the ummah, the Deeper Life strategists had fashioned needs (food and health) and outright deception. We'll come back to this.

OCTOBER 1997: A peculiar training programme tagged International Institute for Muslim Evangelism was organised by the Fireliners Int. and held at the Redeemed Christian Church's headquarters at Ebute Metta.

Lagos. The main menu of the course was a 69-prayer point agenda for the destruction of Muslims world wide. Some of the points range from the laughably ridiculous ("Because Muhammad contacted HIV and Gonorhoea, ...that's why they (Muslims) are performing ablution against it"); to the erratic ("pray for the death of King Fabd and his brother"); and the deceptive (" take them (Muslims) as friends, do not argue with them publicly, use material things to buy a convert etc. "). Some points openly declare war ("pray for the destruction ofMakkab and Ka'abah, confusion in mosques, ask for names of Muslims and start praying on them, Muslims are too tough, target males and whole families etc"),

DECEMBER 1997: Virtually all TV stations were forcing two hours of World  Reach Programmes of the Christian Broadcasting Network down our throats. The programmes were carefully packaged with a singular message to wit: "Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour or perish". Significantly, Hausa language was the only local language on the programme. Almost all the characters whose lives got a turning point with Jesus were former Muslims. Now that I have strung the beads together, it must be clear to you that the strategy is to eliminate you both as a Muslim and as an individual unless you join them. Seems there's no escape to this onslaught: WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

Muhammad, Rasulullah (PBUH) had warned us correctly:

"In the latter days, there wiII come forth men who will deceive the world by religion, clothed before men in sheep-skin to give the impression of gentleness, their tongues sweeter than sugar and their hearts, the hearts of wolves (Tirmidhi).

The strategy of these advocates of Shaytan sums up as follows: Courtesy, Calumny and Confrontation. Shaytan's strategy is indeed weak and futile (Q4: 76). They are so courteous as they offer you food, health and miracles while they engage in calumny, fabrication and falsehood (they are masters at these, remember what they did to the pristine message of Prophet lsa, PBUH) to turn you away from Islam. At this rate and with their boldness, the confrontation of faith, ideas and even people will surely come in the nearest future.

I know, and I am sure that you know too, that their courtesy will fail; indeed has failed:

"Do the unbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors besides Me? .. vain will be their works, nor shall We, on the Day of Judgement, give them any weight. (Hell) is their reward. .. " (QI8:102-106).

Even their calumny cannot stand for

"truth has come and falsehood has vanished; surely! falsehood is ever bound to vanish" (Q17:81);

notwithstanding the wavering or ignorant nominal Muslims that may number in their midst. Allah has warned that:

" Were you to follow their desires after the knowledge which has reached you, then would you find neither protector nor helper against Allah. " (Q2: 120)

But when the confrontation comes, as it might, how will it meet the Muslim ummah? Divided, disunited and in dissension as we currently are?
