Stay Away From Him
It is not permissible for a Muslim to approach the Dajjaal even if he feels sure of himself, because he will bring arguments that are false but, looks like true and this will shake a person’s faith. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever hears of the Dajjaal; let him keep away from him. For by Allaah, a man may come to him thinking that he is a believer, then he will follow him, because of the specious arguments that he produces for him. "(Jaami al-Usool)
However, if a believer is forced to confront him, then he has to take responsibility and speak for the truth, producing good arguments. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"If he emerges whilst I am still amongst you, then I will take care of him for you. But if he emerges when I am not among you, each person will argue for himself, and Allaah will take care of every Muslim for me." (Muslim)
Surat ul-Kahf
Another way, to defend oneself from him is by the recitation of Surat ul-Kahf (the 18 chapter of the Quran) over him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever among you encounters him, let him recite over him the opening verses of Suratul-Kahf (Muslim)
In another narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Part of his tribulations will be that he will have with him a paradise and a fire (Hell). His fire will be a paradise and his paradise will be a fire (hell). Whoever is tested with his fire, let him seek the help the help of Allaah and recite the opening verses of AI-Kahf ... "(Ibn Majah)
Off to Makkah and Madeenah!
Another way in which the Muslim will be able to protect himself from the Dajjal will be to flee to one of the two noble Sanctuaries, Makkah or Madeenah, for the Dajjaal is forbidden to enter them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There is no city that the Dajjaal will not enter, except Makkah and Madeenah. There is no mountain pass of these cities which does not have angels surrounding it and guarding it. "(Muslim)
Before The Taslim
Also, we can protect ourselves from the Dajjaal by turning to Allaah and seeking His protection from him and his fitnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the Muslims to seek refuge with Allaah from the fitnah of the dajjaal. Aa isha (RAH) stated: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking refuge in his prayer from the fitnah of the Dajjaal." (Bukhari).
He would say:
"Allahumma inna naoodhu bika min adhaab Jahannam, wamin adhab al-qabri, wa min fitnat al-mahyaa wal-mamaat, wa min fitnat al-maseeh ad-dajjaal" (O Allaah, we seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell, the torment of the grave, the trials of life and death and the tribulation of the dajjaal.) (Bukhari),
