COMMON ERRORS IN THE USAGE OF VERBS

Wrong use of S in present simple questions

Wrong: A: Does he understands Arabic? B: Yes, He understands Arabic very well.

Correct: A: Does he understand Arabic? B: Yes, He understands Arabic very well.

Wrong: A: Does your sister knows my father? B: Yes, she knows your father quite well. Correct: A:

Does your sister know my father? B: Yes, she knows your father quite well.

Wrong: A: How far does your fathers land extends? B: It extends as far as that tree

Correct: A: How far does your fathers land extend? B: It extends as far as that tree As the examples show, no s must be used after the verb in the question; but it must be used in the answer, which is in statement form.

Wrong use of S in present simple negative form Wrong: She doesnt feels sleepy anymore.

Correct: She doesn't feel sleepy anymore.

Wrong: They dont expects anyone to come.

Correct: They don't expect anyone to come.

Question: He doesn't rides his bicycle anymore.

Answer: He doesn't ride his bicycle anymore. Question: It doesn't comes out in the evening Answer: It doesnt come out in the evening As can be seen in the examples above, using s after Present Simple Negative is an error as far as verbs are concerned. Therefore, it should be avoided.
