One of the ways of getting huge rewards is by reading the Qur'an. There are a few acts that can be compared to it when it comes to reward.
As much as you want of Reward.
The reward that we get from reading the Qur'an is not limited, rather, it depends on how much reward we want for ourselves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whenever a person recites one letter from the Book of Allaah, one good deed is recorded for him. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter".(Tirmidhi).
So imagine it you have recited Surah Faatiha alone today and see how much of reward you have for yourself for just doing that.
An Intercessor
The Qur'an on the Day of Judgement will act as an intercessor for the people who are always reciting it in this world. The Prophet (peace and blessings De upon him) said:
"Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its companion. Read (in particular) the two flowers: al-Baqara and ali-Imran" (Muslim).
Devotion to it and memorising it.
We will be raised in status on the Day of Judgement based on the amount of verses that we have memorised from the Qur'an. The Prophet of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"One who was devoted to the Qur'an will be told to recite, ascend and recite carefully as here cited carefully when he was in the world, for he will reach his abode when he comes to the last verse he recites". (Tirmidhi)
It is a Cure and a Mercy.
Allaah says:
"And We send down of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islamic monotheism and act on it), and it increases the zalimun(polytheists and wrong-doers) in nothing but loss" (Q 17: 82).
We have mentioned before that some specific chapters of the Qur'an such as chapters 113, 114, 1.2 etc. are some of those that we can recite to protect ourselves from Shaytan and also use them for cure. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Certainly Shaytan flees from the house in which surah al-Baqarah is recited."(Muslim)
Beautify the Qur'an with your voice
It is recommended for one to beautify his voice upon reciting the Qur'an. This is based on the Prophet's statement:
"Allaah does not listen to anything as he listens to the recitation of the Qur'an by a prophet who recites it in an attractive audible sweet sounding voice" (Bukhari)
He also said:
"Among the best of men is the one in which when you hear him recite the Qur'an you feel that he fears Allaah" (Silsilah ahadeeth saheehah).
From this, we can see that it is not just enough for people to be using melodious voice such as those who sing with the verses of the Our'an, rather it should be done with the fear of Allaah.
