Verbalize Appreciation, Loudly! Once the Messenger of Allaah, [peace and blessings be upon him] was sitting with some companions when a man passed by. One of the companions said: This is a very good man. I love him. The Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him asked: Have you ever told him that? The companion responded: No! The Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him] said: Go and tell him that you love him. Islam teaches us to verbalize our appreciation. Others must hear it from us loud and clear. he pivotal principle of a Muslim is to praise AIIaah, the most Praiseworthy. The Quran explains this in a special way:
"And remember! When your Lord proclaimed: If you are grateful, I will add more [favours] to you; but if you show ingratitude, truly my punishment is indeed severe [Q 14:7].
Then, this gratitude and appreciation should spread to our fellow men. The Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him] said: He who does not thank people, does not thank Allaah [Abu Dawud]
The key to more favours from Allaah is to thank him! It is also the key to better relationship with people. Let us practice giving thanks to people for any good thing they do. We will be rewarded with more good things coming from them. Appreciation is the watering needed for the tree of goodness to bear more fruit. For parents, remember that the healthy blood needed for you children is appreciation with good encouragement. Do not deprive them of it. Nowadays, we criticize others loudly. When it comes to good deeds deserving praise, we keep quiet. Yet, if we expressed our appreciation more loudly and criticized less loudly, our society will be flooded with love and encouragement.
