Man is a creature with ties. Allaah has created us with needs and feelings. Needs that only others can fulfil and feelings that must be shared. Everyday, we live and meet with people - kins, friends and acquaintances that we must relate with. There is the boss who must be dealt with at the work place. There are neighbours we must relate with and there are kins with whom we share blood ties that we must connect nicely.
Most times we do not share many things in common with people we relate with yet managing these relationships is crucial to our own well being as well. Relationships are circumscribed by rights, obligations and goodness. If these aspects are properly nurtured, it contributes to individual well being and societal harmony. In Islaam, the guidelines for nurturing these diverse relationships are clearly spelt out. In this section, we shall present the guidelines of Islam on each of these relationships insha Allaah.
