The rains are here again. As the thunder rumbles and the lightning flashes and the cool wind of a refreshing shower blows across the land, we should not forget the guidance of Allaah in welcoming the rain.
When you see clouds about to join together, you should stop all what you are doing, even if it is prayer, and say:
Allaahumma inni as'aaluka khayrahaa, wa audhu bika min sharriha
O Allaah, I ask You its good and I seek refuge in You from its evil. (Abu Dawud)
When the winds become strong
Allaahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayran ma feehaa wa khayran maursilat bihi wa audhu bika min sharrihaa wa sharri ma feehaa wa sharri maursilat bihi.
O Allaah, I ask you for the good that it is sent with. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil that it contains and the evil which with it has been sent. (Bukhari)

When it rains
Allaahumma sayyiban naafi'an Meaning: O Allaah, [make it] a heavy beneficial rain (Bukhari)
When it rains a great deal or one fears that it will become harmful
Allaahumma hawaalaynaa wa laa alaynaa. Allaahumma alaa-l-akaamiwal-jibaali wal-ajaami wadhiraabi wal-audiyati wa manaabiti-sh-shajar
O Allaah, around us and not upon us. O Allaah, upon the plateaus, mountains, valleys, hills and roots of trees. (Bukhari)
