TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT?

"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine and that on which has been invoked the name of other than Allah, that which has been killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a headlong fall or by being gored to death; that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless you are able to slaughter it (in due form)  " (Q5: 3).

The following are some of the conditions that could also render an animal haram:

AL-MAWQUDHAH: If the death of an animal is incurred through beating either by human being or by beasts, such animal is called al-mawqudhah and it is forbidden.

AL-MUTARADDIYAH: If an animal dies from falling off a high cliff, such animal is also haram for the believers.

AL-NATIHAH: Animals that die as a result of a wound inflicted by horns or any other object are also forbidden by Allah for Muslims.

AKL AL-SAB’': If the death of an animal is caused by the attack of wild beast then whatever is left of the animal's flesh becomes forbidden. However in the conditions mentioned above, if the animal is still alive and dhabh (proper slaughtering) is done with the invocation of the name of Allah, the animal becomes lawful. Be careful. do not eat haram: avoid eating 'bush meat.

(HEALTHY LIVING]

Health is an invaluable asset to its possessor, this saying of Allah's Messenger (PBUH) attests to this:

"Ask Allah for forgiveness and health, for after being granted certainty, one is given nothing better than health. " (Tirmidhi)

Thus he (PBUH)taught us to pray:

"O Allah! Grant me health in my body. 0 Allah! Grant me good hearing. o Allah! Grant me good eyesight. There is no god but you. " (Bukhari)

Nowadays in pursuit of our daily bread, we have fallen into the habit of maltreating our body, thereby endangering our health. This next saying of the Prophet (PBUH) will help us in putting health in right its place:

"There is no harm in wealth for him who fears Allah. Who is Great and Glorious, but for him who fears Allah health is better than wealth, and a happy frame of mind is one of AIlah 's favours. "(Ahmad)

So don't wait until ill-health before you accept and appreciate one of the favours of your Lord - good health. Thank Allah for it and keep it (health) as you'll keep your most precious item.
