GOOD ACTIONS

From Abu Hurairah [RA] who said that Allaah's Messenger said;

'Charity [sadaqah] is due upon every joint of a person on every day that the sun rises. Administering justice between two people is an act of charity; and to help a man concerning his riding beast by helping him on to it or lifting his luggage on to it is an act of charity; a good word is Charity; and even step which you take to the prayer is charity; and removing that which is harmful from the road is charity."[Bukhari]

So if the servant is able to spend all his days and nights in obedience to Allaah and in doing actions pleasing to Him then let him do so! He should not let Shaytan cause him to refrain and avoid good deeds! This is not abstemiousness (being moderate) as pointed out by Shaykhul- Islam Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. Rather it is a deception which Shaytan is only able to perpetrate upon those who are weak with regard to the religion, lacking certain conviction, so that you find Shaytan sitting comfortably upon his heart, erecting his throne upon it! So the more good deeds which the Muslims· perform the closer he will draw to his Lord, the One free and far removed from imperfections, and his love for Him will increase.

Furthermore, even though (being moderate) is to be given special attention by the rich due to their ability to spend their wealth, as opposed to the poor, then this will not prevent the Muslim, rich or poor, from having a contented and rich soul.
